Wheel
The wheel first rolls some 5,500 years ago in Mesopotamia and Europe - loads move with a fraction of the effort.
Open in the interactive tree →The oldest evidence of wheels on wagons dates to around 3500-3100 BC (pictures in Poland, finds near Ljubljana, Mesopotamia); the potter's wheel is somewhat older. Wheels required axles, woodworking and draft animals, so several techniques at once. All vehicles up to the railway and the car build on it.
