Ice drilled in Antarctica and Greenland holds air bubbles from the past 800,000 years and shows that CO2 and temperature moved together.
Open in the interactive tree →The Vostok core (1985-1987) showed 160,000 years of CO2 and temperature in step, and EPICA Dome C extended the record to about 800,000 years by 2004-2008. Present CO2 levels are far above anything in the whole record.
