A Malaria-Free World
Malaria transmission is stopped worldwide and every country is certified free of it, joining smallpox as a human disease that has been ended.
Open in the interactive tree →Malaria has been removed country by country before: 47 countries and one territory were certified malaria-free by December 2025. The Lancet Commission on Malaria Eradication (2019) judged eradication by 2050 possible and affordable with about 2 billion dollars more per year, while WHO's advisers said it was too early to set a date. Reaching it needs medicines that work after artemisinin, mosquito control that beats resistance, and vaccines or antibodies that also stop spread.
What it brings
