Mass-Produced Electric Car
Tesla Roadster (2008), Nissan Leaf (2010) and Model S (2012) show that electric cars are fit for daily use.
Open in the interactive tree →Electric cars existed around 1900, but combustion engines and lead batteries won out; only the lithium-ion battery brought range. The Roadster used laptop cells, the Leaf was the first mass-market series model, and the Model S showed over 400 km of range. Falling cell prices and Chinese manufacturers then drove the market rapidly.
