Commercial Crew Spaceflight
On 30 May 2020 SpaceX's Crew Dragon Demo-2 flew two NASA astronauts to the ISS, the first US crewed launch since 2011 and the first by a commercial provider.
Open in the interactive tree →After the Shuttle ended in 2011 NASA relied on Soyuz at up to US$80 million per astronaut and contracted private companies under its Commercial Crew Program. Demo-2 (Behnken and Hurley, Falcon 9, 63 days) was SpaceX's last major test before NASA certified Dragon 2 for regular crewed flights.
